Flomax (Tamsulosin) is used to treat the prostate gland, a condition called BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia, also known as prostate enlargement). Flomax belongs to the class of alpha blockers. The principle of its work is to weaken the muscles of the bladder neck and prostate, which in turn leads to relief of symptoms of BPH, such as the feeling of frequent urination, poor flow of urine, difficulty at the beginning of urination, and the need to urinate in the middle of the night. This medicine should not be used to treat high blood pressure.
Indication for use
Flomax (Tamsulosin) can be taken only by men to treat the symptoms of moderate and severe benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Flomax (Tamsulosin) is not recommended to use if you have: diseases of the liver or kidneys; history of prostate cancer; low blood pressure; or allergy to sulfamide drugs.
Dose and usage
Dose of Flomax (Tamsulosin): 0.4 mg - light green and orange hard gelatin capsule, imprinted on one side with Flomax 0.4 mg and on the other side with BI 58.
Take orally. Take Flomax once a day (with or without food), or as prescribed by your doctor. Take the first dose at bedtime to minimize dizziness or loss of consciousness. After taking the first dose, take the rest regularly at the same time each day. Swallow the capsule completely without chewing, as this can lead to side effects. Inform your doctor if your problems worsen or persist for 4 weeks.
According to surveys Flomax (Tamsulosin) can lead to some side effects: penile erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or more; fever, sore throat, red or purple rash on the skin that spreads (especially to the face or upper body) and causes swelling and peeling; dizziness, drowsiness, weakness; nausea, diarrhea; headache, chest pain; abnormal ejaculation, sperm reduction; back pain; blurred vision; insomnia; reduced libido.
